Gelateria Palau is an ice cream shop located in the heart of Barcelona, in one of the most emblematic places of our city: right in front of the Palau de la Música Catalana, in the El Born neighbourhood, in the Ciutat Vella district.

It may seem the ice cream shop was named after its location, but the curious story actually goes back over a hundred years, when the entrepreneur Ramón Palau decided to found an olive oil company in the best region for such a task: the small village of La Sénia. In the olive groves bordering Castellón, the oil export business grew and became internationally known, later winning several international awards for its supreme quality.

Ramón's descendants founded this ice cream shop with all possible affection and with the help of the entire Lázaro-Palau family — from the oldest to the youngest — paying homage to their surname. Seizing the opportunity to open an ice cream shop in Barcelona, they decided their gelato would also carry that superior quality that characterised their grandfather Ramón's fine work.

Aware that the finest ice cream culture is found in Italy, they partnered with Luca Grassi, Italian master gelatiere and founder of Menodiciotto, a Turin-based workshop with over 40 years of history, winner of numerous awards for preserving and innovating in the art of quality ice cream. Menodiciotto brings a great variety of the most artisan Italian gelato, so that the inhabitants of Barcelona and its thousands of visitors can enjoy the best dessert possible.

Like any good business, the early days were not easy, but from the very first minute until today we have worked to offer a new concept of ice cream shop — one that "pampers the taste and also the body" — with healthy seasonal products like the famous lollies by Nadia Ionut (GÜD), plus delicious extras like warm Waffles or Crêpes in winter or Valencia Horchata in summer. This new concept is already positioning it as one of the best ice cream shops in Barcelona.
